In a monumental move, the 2023 African Women’s Empowerment Summit (AWES) is set to revolutionize the landscape of women’s empowerment. This transformative event marks a significant shift from the former Women’s Empowerment Sunday Brunch by DL Johnson Consulting Agency and is scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana. The event will be a beacon of hope and opportunity for women across Africa, fostering connections, capacity-building, and cultural exchange.
The Evolution of AWES
The AWES summit is an evolution of the Women’s Empowerment Sunday Brunch, which, for four years before the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrated women in business and those running for political office from across the United States. In 2020, the event was held as a hybrid gathering, but due to the organizer’s relocation to Ghana and the global pandemic, the 2021 event had to be postponed. Now, in 2023, AWES has emerged, carrying the legacy of the Women’s Empowerment Sunday Brunch into a new era, focusing on empowering African women.
A 7-Day Journey of Empowerment
The 2023 AWES event spans seven days and is designed to provide attendees with a diverse range of activities that encompass relaxation, rejuvenation, and relationship building. With the goal of connecting African women from across the continent and its diaspora, AWES aims to create opportunities for cultural exchange, business networking, and the cultivation of sisterhood.
