Accra, Ghana – Just ahead of National Farmers Day in Accra, Ghana, West Africa there was an announcement of the establishment of the very first Cannabis Research Institute (CRI) in West Africa!Founded by an African American dubbed the “Hemp Lady of Africa” and a Ghanaian Cannabis Industry and Research Expert on Monday, November 27, 2023.

This is just 90 days after the very  public splash of the launch of the African Cannabis University (ACU) back in August this year  preceding the passing of the Ghana Cannabis Bill on July 12th.

The CRI was created as part of the AIE Project comprehensive roadmap, designed by the Cooperative Executive Management Team (CEMT, LLC) and the International Cannabis Company (ICC) to build Cannabis industries in African countries.

These two powerhouses have assembled an all Black Consortium of 19 Experts from around the world to contribute to their efforts to “Re-Brand the Black Farmer” on the continent of Africa. The founders had this to say…

“After celebrating 20 years in the cannabis industry this year that included many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, and my first trip to Ghana in 2019, it was time to take CEMT to the next level. The Cannabis Research Institute gives the legitimacy to this industry in Africa that Africans respect, which is education, but it also gives us an opportunity to ”Re-Brand the Black Farmer” and how we think about agriculture utilizing the “Culture of Cannabis”. Having a team of all black experts behind this truly makes the CEMT, LLC vision come to light.” – Hemp Lady of Africa, Cannabis Research Institute, Founding Director, CEMT, President

“Being a Ghanaian that has lived abroad and worked on Cannabis infrastructure in the Caribbean, working with companies like ProVerde, and understanding the local Ghanaian culture it was time to act and establish ourselves as the premier technical partner to governments across Africa looking to build their Cannabis industry. What a great opportunity for me to do this right here at home in Ghana and with the Diaspora coming back home to Africa makes it a divine intervention.” Godfred Aboagye, Cannabis Research Institute, Founding Director, ICC, President

The Cannabis Research Institute was established and registered in Accra, Ghana and is focused on Cannabis Research, Capacity-building, Training, and Partnerships with other research universities, HBCU’s, donors, farm cooperatives, and supporters of the Cannabis industry in Africa.
