At this time of great distraught for farmers in Nigeria over conflict with herders , compounded with the inconsistencies of covid-19 pandemic that has strained our collective economic, health and psychological well being , the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has appended their support to Organic Agro Summit of Pan African Trade Fair aimed at encouraging a profitable restart for Nigerian and African farmers post the pandemic.
The event slated to hold virtually and on site at Sandralia Hotel Abuja from the 27th to the 30th of May 2021 presents opportunity for farmers to learn new means of sustaining their trade and available economic opportunities for them at this time. It also presents an opportunity of networking and consultation with experts in the industry as well as exhibition of their crops and products for possible collaboration and partnership with industries in need of their raw products world over.
Rasheedah Fagbayi the C.E.O of Pan Africa Trade Fair Nigeria, has urged lawmakers and governors to sponsor farmers in their state to the maiden Organic Agriculture and Agribusiness exhibition and investment conference, which is being held in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with support from Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria( SMEDAN).
‘’ In line with the National Agriculture Development Funds Bill that was passed in March, we urge Senators to sponsor farmers from their constituency to the summit , We also appeal to well meaning Nigerians and philanthropists, Governors, members of House of Representatives to Sponsor farmers in their States to participate in Live and Virtual Exhibition / Investment Conferences. And help facilitate an upward mobility for the agric sector in their states ‘’
‘’we have eminent Speakers and experts selected across the continent who will enlighten farmers and delegates about environmental and financial benefits of adopting and investing in Organic- Agriculture and Organic- Agribusiness , information shared will add value thereby empower participants and create networking opportunities locally and globally.’’ She reiterated
“The Live/ Virtual Exhibition and Investment Conference will create a platform for product exposure, generate new leads and also build a rapport attendees who can’t attend the live event in- person. It will also add value to all stakeholders in the value chain which includes small, medium and commercial farmers, in Public and Private sectors engaged in Agribusiness both locally and globally.” Rasheedah Fagbayi concluded.
The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural development Alhaji Sabo Nano will be officiating the opening ceremony with the Special Guest of Honour Dr. Andrew Kwasari Senior Special Assistant to the President on Agriculture and Special Technical Adviser to the Agric Minister.
The Keynote Speakers includes the founder CEO of BIO Deposit Organic Fertilizers; Dr. Vladimir Demenijev, National President of All Farmers Association of Nigeria; Architect Kabir Ibrahim ,the Chairmen and Members of All Farmers Association of Nigeria(AFAN) Young Farmers Association of Nigeria(YFAN) and other Eminent speakers.
The conference holding for the first time on the theme- Organic Agriculture and Organic Agribusiness: Reviving the Lost Jewel , is aimed at promoting and reviving the interest of Nigerians and Africans at large in Agri- business and will feature exhibition from the local and global players in the Agric- sector.
