It is with profound sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the wife, family, friends, and the people of Ondo State, Nigeria, on the untimely passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu this morning. His dedicated service and leadership have left an indelible mark on the state and the nation as a whole, especially within the cannabis industry.

Governor Akeredolu’s commitment to public service and his vision for a prosperous and healthy Ondo state reflected his unwavering dedication to the well-being of its citizens. His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all those who had the privilege of working with him and benefiting from his leadership.

As we mourn the loss of a great pioneer and advocate for cannabis in Nigeria, we also reflect on the critical role that leaders like Governor Akeredolu play in shaping the future of the nation. His efforts to address health challenges, such as leukemia and prostate cancer, underscore the urgent need for progressive legislation regarding the use of cannabis for medical purposes.

The conversation around the medicinal use of cannabis for cancer and other terminal illnesses is a vital part of the global healthcare discourse. Governor Akeredolu’s advocacy for such legislation demonstrated his commitment to exploring innovative solutions for the well-being of the people he served. The potential economic benefits and revenue generation associated with medical tourism in this context further highlight the significance of comprehensive healthcare policies, particularly in alignment with the 4th Industrial Revolution and 21st-century healthcare standards.

As we navigate this challenging period, we urge the new governor to carry forward Governor Akeredolu’s legacy by aligning with the will of the global market and the Nigerian people. Embracing economic relief and healthcare measures that resonate with the principles of the 4th Industrial Revolution will not only position Ondo State as a progressive hub but also contribute significantly to the overall well-being of its citizens.

On behalf of the Cooperative Executive Management Team, the AIE Project Partners Consortium, the African Cannabis University, and as the Hemp Lady of Africa, along with all black farmers and advocates for the cannabis industry globally, we express our deepest sympathies to the entire Ondo state community and the citizens of Nigeria. May Governor Akeredolu’s legacy inspire continued efforts towards a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria.

Once again, our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by this profound loss.
