The Accra City Hotel in collaboration with the Centre for Afrikan Art and Designs, Ibadan, Nigeria, is set to host a major art exhibition themed “Transversing Borders: Artist Integration” from November 6 to 29, 2025.
The exhibition, which will run daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Accra City Hotel, seeks to promote cultural exchange, artistic dialogue, and economic collaboration between Nigeria and Ghana. The official opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
According to the organizers, the exhibition aims to create a platform where artists from both countries can interact, share experiences, and celebrate Africa’s creative diversity.
“This event represents more than just an art showcase; it is a bridge that connects the creative minds of Nigeria and Ghana,” said one of the coordinators from the Centre for Afrikan Art and Designs, Ibadan. “Through collaboration and artistic expression, we hope to reinforce the historical and cultural ties that have long united both nations.”
The initiative is expected to draw artists, collectors, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the diplomatic community from both countries and beyond.
The organizers issued a heartfelt appeal to all Nigerians in Ghana to attend the exhibition and participate actively in the cultural exchange.
In a public statement, the event committee noted:
“We kindly ask all Nigerians—Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Urhobo, Edo, Itshekiri, Ijaw, Fulani, Tiv, Efik, Ibibio, Kanuri, Nupe, Gbagyi, Idoma, Ebira, and others—to come out and represent Nigeria with pride.”
“This event is not just about art,” the statement continued, “but also about unity, cultural collaboration, and strengthening the economic bond between our people here in Ghana.”
The message emphasizes that such initiatives create opportunities for integration, business partnerships, and understanding among African communities living abroad.
The upcoming exhibition is seen as part of ongoing efforts by creative institutions to use art as a tool for social connection and economic empowerment.
By bringing together artists, cultural investors, and the public, the program intends to stimulate dialogue on how art can serve as a medium for unity and cross-border collaboration.
A spokesperson for the Accra City Hotel described the exhibition as “a reflection of Africa’s resilience and creativity.”
“We are proud to host an event that celebrates both countries’ talent and heritage,” the spokesperson said. “Our doors are open to everyone who believes in art as a vehicle for peace and progress.”
The “Transversing Borders: Artist Integration” exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, crafts, and digital art pieces from renowned and emerging artists across West Africa. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the blend of tradition and modernity that defines the evolving African art landscape.
As both countries prepare to celebrate this cultural milestone, the organizers reiterated their commitment to using art as a unifying force.
“Let us come together to represent Nigeria with pride and strengthen our bond,” the announcement concluded. “Unity in diversity remains our greatest strength.”
The event promises to be a colourful celebration of creativity, connection, and shared identity—reaffirming the role of art in building bridges across borders.
