Nana Addo Tamakloe, CEO of Accra Fashion Week, is currently representing Ghana at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, which has been underway in Moscow from August 28 and concludes today, August 30. The summit, recognized as one of the most important platforms shaping the future of the global fashion industry, has drawn leaders from fashion associations, textile and manufacturing companies, designers, buyers, and experts from more than 60 countries.
For Ghana, Nana Addo Tamakloe’s presence is a landmark moment, as he continues to share insights and strengthen connections that promise to elevate Accra Fashion Week and Ghanaian fashion as a whole. His participation underscores the BRICS+ Fashion Summit’s commitment to spotlighting emerging markets and fostering cultural exchange across continents.
This year’s program has centered on themes of sustainability, innovation, professional education, and international trade expansion, with a strong emphasis on how BRICS+ nations and other developing fashion regions can thrive amidst global challenges. Over the past three days, participants from diverse regions — spanning South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia — have engaged in transformative dialogue, establishing new creative and commercial partnerships.

In his contribution, Nana Addo Tamakloe emphasized the role of African fashion in the global economy, while championing the mission of Accra Fashion Week, which itself celebrates its 10th anniversary this December at Airport City, Accra, from 16 to 21 December. The milestone event will be sponsored by the newly opened FashionGHANA Shop in Adabraka, Accra, which has also been highlighted during the summit in Russia.
“The BRICS+ Fashion Summit continues to show how emerging countries can use platforms like this to position their brands and industries at the center of global conversations,” Tamakloe shared during his address. “This is about more than fashion — it’s about building long-term cooperation, creating opportunities for our designers, and expanding Ghana’s role in the international market.”
Running alongside the summit, Moscow Fashion Week (August 28 – September 2) has also attracted global attention, with Russian designers sharing the stage with brands from Brazil, South Africa, China, India, Spain, and more. The overlap of the two events has created a vibrant atmosphere, symbolizing the rise of a new multicultural fashion community in Moscow and solidifying the city’s role as a global fashion hub.
As the BRICS+ Fashion Summit draws to a close today, the conversations and collaborations formed here are already pointing toward a stronger, more interconnected global fashion industry — and Ghana, through Nana Addo Tamakloe and Accra Fashion Week, is right at its heart.
