The event designed towards creating an enabling platform in which Iconic individuals drawn from different facets of the African society will come together and discuss the link of negative cultural practice to under-development of the modern African girl-child and woman and aim to overturn them via legislation process in our respective nations in the continent. The dialogue taking place in Accra International Conference Center Ghana has been adjusted to a future date that will be announced soon because of the Covid-19 pandemic and would center on the theme: Culture and its underrated place in measures aimed at improving the well-being of the Girl Child and Women in general. On this theme, the African Women Intercultural Dialogue will focus on premises of cultural influences in social issues contingent to the crime of trafficking in persons and will also affirm Africa’s endangered positive cultural norms from cultural clashes and propagate cross cultural intelligence and positive cultural exchange in today’s ever-evolving world. Objective Shifting consciousness through the redistribution of cultural reflections on the question of women and girl child in Africa. Goal Deconstructing Patriarchy, Gender Equity and Cross Cultural Intelligence. Attending Expected to enrich the audience are concerned citizens and leaders of social institutions like labour unions, religious organisations, civic societies, market women associations, social activists, law makers, African first ladies, Women in politics and country representatives of International development organizations especially those that works in the field of gender, culture and child rights, cultural leaders from different regions in Africa and beyond , young women in school and business and youths from the 5 regions of the African continent. The Dialogue General Theme is: Culture: An Under-rated Element In The Rise of Human Trafficking and Irregular MigrationThe maiden edition of this event was held at Accra International Conference Centre Ghana on 25th April 2017;The second edition was held at the National Center For Women Development Abuja Nigeria on 25th September 2018 in collaboration with UNWomen, UNESCO,UN-IOM Nigeria and More Why we host the African Elders and Women Intercultural Dialogue The African Women Intercultural Dialogue discuss, investigate and proffers solutions to intercultural and trans-cultural practices that limits the participatory abilities of women in national and human developmental projects, as well as acts and social arrangements that condones all forms of violence against women in the larger social structure and is geared towards creating an enabling platform in which Iconic Africans drawn from different facets of our society comes together to discuss on the links of Negative cultural practice to the contemporary challenges and under-development of the modern African girl child and woman. African Elders Conference We added the African Elders Conference to the event to enhance participation of men at the Dialogue because we are of the belief that no reasonable socio-cultural progress can be made on the continent without the African man having to adjust his position, deliberation among our elders for solution to social challenges is an age old practice older than democracy and has effectively worked in the African community,the rising problem of human trafficking hinged on migration must be treated as an emergency at this time in the continent and can be solved when the proposed solutions are agreed from an all-inclusive gathering of the elders and youths,policy makers and the edict taken home to each society, community and family. Why Ghana Ghana is not left out in the cross-border question of Trafficking that have ravaged African countries and beyond, de-constructive questions that have opened new challenges and learning curve in the global engagement against the modern-day slavery. We chose Ghana as venue of the 2020 Intercultural Dialogue to exploit its multi-cultural settings as a pedestal for extracting a more cross cultural perspective on the issue at hand and to purposefully support its fight against Human Trafficking which it is unfortunately placed on the tier 2 of the 2019 US Department of State Report, a position that calls for more decisive action both on the preventive and punitive fronts of its campaign against Trafficking. Past Chairpersons of the Dialogue Prominent African voices and institutions has continuously participated in the intercultural dialogue some of the dignitaries to chair this dialogue and grace the event in person are former Vice President and mother of the Gambia Struggle, Her Excellency Mrs. Fatoumata Tambajang Jallow and wife of former Vice President of Nigeria , Her Excellency Mrs. Amina Titi Abubakar both co-chaired the 2018 Dialogue in Abuja. Representative of Diaspora Africans at the African Union Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett was the chairperson of the Accra Dialogue in 2017.
