On this Human Rights Day 2025, Ohaha Family Foundation, and Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development Initiative, stand together to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the dignity, equality, and freedom of all people.
Human Rights Day is not only a commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but also a call to action. Around the world, communities continue to face injustice, discrimination, and violence. In Nigeria and across the Sahel region, we see the urgent need to protect vulnerable groups, amplify the voices of women and children, and ensure that every individual enjoys the fundamental rights to safety, education, health, and constructive participation in society.

Our organizations believe that human rights are the cornerstone of peace and sustainable development. We therefore call for joint and collaborative efforts from all stakeholder, including state and federal governments, donors, international partners, private sector and diaspora community to join hands with local actors and citizens to:
- Defend and uphold the rights of marginalized groups and communities by ensuring access to justice and equal opportunities.
- Promote accountability in governance and institutions, so that rights are not just words on paper but lived realities.
- Invest in education and advocacy to empower young people as defenders of human rights.
- Advance people-centered sustainable climate action by investing in climate and environment sector, as well as increased funding to local organizations to capacitate climate action
- Strengthen collaboration across sectors to build inclusive societies where no one is left behind.
As partners, the Ohaha Family Foundation and Connected Advocacy pledge to continue working hand in hand to advance and uphold human rights through community engagement, policy advocacy, and grassroots empowerment.

On this Human Rights Day, we honor the courage of human rights defenders everywhere and remind ourselves that the struggle for social justice is ongoing. Together, we can build a future where dignity, equality, and freedom are not privileges, but universal rights.
