The event, organized by Nkumu Katalay LLC and the NYC African Council, will feature the raising of the Congolese flag and a celebration of Congolese culture and heritage.

The event, which will take place from 1-4 pm, will commemorate the 64th independence of Congo and celebrate the contributions of the Congolese community to New York City. The theme of the event, “To Tié LIBAYA,” means “We are here to stay” in Lingala, a language spoken in Congo.
