The Importance and place of black history month celebration every February have risen astronomically in recent times, garnering attention of the world and centering it on issues of civil right movements and social justice.
Though Black History Month Celebration is originally aimed at commemorating the historical struggle of Diaspora Africans, and has has received official recognition from governments in the United States ,Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany, it has of recent taken a twist in dimension as Africans on the motherland are joining in marking it ,drawing attention of their own history and place, as well as their art and contents in the black history celebration, so the celebration now highlights the achievements of Blacks across the world.
Liberation Chapter of NALT Club an International nonprofit organization formed and registered in Nigeria to advance equality, strengthen communities and provide a platform for networking through the pursuit of social justice and fair play will be hosting a conversation on inclusivity and equality in the fight for social justice, with lessons to be taken from the Aba Women Riot of 1929 a historical event of global significance on the importance of women in social change.
“As an organization, registered under the Nigerian law and whose mandate and principles among others revolves around defense of human rights and democracy, we the Liberation Chapter of NALT a highly esteemed global movement of social crusaders has chosen the evening of tomorrow the 22nd of February to have a chat with our members and the public at large on the need for everyone to join the fight for social justice, citing examples from how Nwanyereuwa and other women led a protest that shook the British Government and the world in 1929 over taxation of women in Aba a leading commercial town in South east of Nigeria.”
